Common radio issues
Recognise what you're seeing?
These are typical situations drivers run into. Select one for what it usually means and what to try.
- “Acquiring signal” stays on screenOften a view-of-sky issue, sometimes an antenna fault.Read the guide
- Subscription message instead of musicUsually a plan or activation status that needs checking.Read the guide
- Channels gone after a trial endedNormally the plan changed. A refresh may help.Read the guide
- Audio drops under bridges and in garagesExpected in places the satellite signal can't reach.Read the guide
- Bought a used car with a silent radioA previous owner's plan rarely carries over.Read the guide

Vehicles
It depends on the receiver, not just the badge on the boot
Whether satellite radio works in a vehicle depends on the receiver fitted, not just the make and model. Many vehicles have a factory-fitted receiver, some carry an aftermarket tuner and some have neither.
We don't publish a list of supported vehicles, because we can't verify compatibility from a make and model alone. Send us the details and we'll tell you honestly whether it's something we can help with.
What helps us help you
- Vehicle make, model and approximate year
- Whether the radio is factory-fitted or added later
- The radio ID, if you can find it
- The exact message or symptom on screen

Troubleshooting FAQ
Quick answers to common questions
Can't find yours? Send an enquiry and we'll answer it.
See all questionsIs RadioSatCare a satellite radio provider?
No. We are an independent assistance service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by any satellite radio provider or manufacturer. Subscriptions are managed by the provider.
What can you actually do for me?
We help you understand what's happening, run the right checks and prepare for the right conversation with your provider or installer. We can't activate radios, change subscriptions or repair hardware.
What does it cost to send an enquiry?
Sending an enquiry through this website is free. If we ever offer anything that carries a fee, we will tell you the price clearly before you agree to anything.
What should I include in my enquiry?
The vehicle make, model and year, any radio ID you can find, the message shown on the radio and what you've already tried. The more specific you are, the more useful our reply.
Why does my radio say “acquiring signal”?
The receiver can't lock onto the satellite signal. The usual reasons are a blocked view of the sky or an antenna or installation fault. Try an open area first.
Why did my channels disappear?
Usually the plan attached to the radio changed, for example a trial ended. A refresh requested through your provider sometimes fixes temporary mismatches.
Not sure where to start? Tell us what the radio is doing.
